Is there a grant for a new boiler in Ireland?

No. There is no SEAI grant for a new oil or gas boiler. SEAI grants fund renewable and energy-saving upgrades, not like-for-like fossil-fuel boilers. But there are two real funding routes worth knowing about.

So what can you actually get funding for?

1. Switch to a heat pump: up to €12,500

If you’re replacing an old oil or gas boiler anyway, switching to a heat pump attracts up to €12,500 in SEAI grants (including a €4,000 bonus for leaving fossil fuels). See the Heat Pump Grant and our oil-to-heat-pump conversion page.

2. Housing Aid for Older People (66+)

If you (or the homeowner) are aged 66 or over, the Housing Aid for Older People scheme, run by your local authority and means-tested, can help with essential repairs, which can include heating system or boiler repair or replacement. This is the one real route to help with a conventional boiler. Amounts and rules are set by each local council and vary by area.
