Heat Pump Grant: up to €12,500 to switch your heating

You can get up to €12,500 towards a heat pump for a house (up to €9,500 for an apartment). The grant rewards leaving fossil fuels behind, and we handle the SEAI paperwork for you.

  • Up to €12,500Heat pump (house)indicative
  • Up to €9,500Heat pump (apartment)indicative
  • €4,000Renewable Heat Bonus: extra for replacing an oil or gas boiler (included in the €12,500)indicative

What makes up the €12,500?

The heat pump grant is built from three parts:

  • €6,500 towards the heat pump system itself.
  • €2,000 towards upgrading your central heating / radiators so the heat pump runs efficiently.
  • €4,000 Renewable Heat Bonus for switching away from oil, gas, solid fuel or electric storage heating.

That totals up to €12,500 for a house and €9,500 for an apartment. An air-to-air heat pump is grant-aided up to €7,500. (Grant rates increased on 3 February 2026.)

Please note: these are indicative figures only. Grant amounts and eligibility are set by SEAI and local authorities, and can change at any time. We can't guarantee any amount. Always confirm current details directly with SEAI (seai.ie) or your local authority, and we'll go through what you may be eligible for at your free home visit.

Who is eligible?

  • Your home must have been built and occupied before 2021.
  • Your home needs a valid MPRN (electricity meter point reference number).
  • The work must be done by an SEAI-registered contractor, and approved by SEAI before it starts.

Honest note: a heat pump performs best, and costs least to run, in a reasonably well-insulated home. At your free visit we check whether your home is heat-pump-ready, or whether some insulation first would pay off.

Not always, but a heat pump runs most efficiently in a reasonably airtight, well-insulated home. The grant process includes a technical heat-loss assessment. If some insulation would help, we tell you honestly, and those measures have their own grants.

Yes. The €4,000 Renewable Heat Bonus is specifically for replacing oil, gas, solid fuel or electric storage heating with a heat pump.

Yes, with most insulation and renewable grants: they stack. One exception: the heating controls grant cannot be combined with the heat pump grant.
