Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
Please note: This policy is provided for transparency and is not legal advice. We recommend it is reviewed by the business owner and a qualified solicitor before being relied upon.
This Privacy Policy explains how Athena Enterprises Ltd, trading as The Powerhouse (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects and uses your personal data when you contact us, request a free home visit, or use our services. We handle your data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts.
Who we are (data controller)
The data controller is Athena Enterprises Ltd, trading as The Powerhouse, Unit 7, Block 3, Newtown Business Park, Mount Kennedy, Co. Wicklow, A63 YH70, Ireland. Our website is thepowerhouse.ie. For any question about your data or this policy, contact us at admin@thepowerhouse.ie or (01) 563 6660.
What personal data we collect
When you use our “Book a Free Home Visit” / contact form, we collect the details you choose to give us:
- your name;
- your phone number;
- your email address;
- your home address and/or Eircode;
- your county;
- the services you’re interested in;
- your preferred timeframe; and
- any additional message you send us.
We also collect limited technical information through cookies when you browse the site. See our Cookie Policy.
Payment information. When you pay online, your payment is processed securely by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not collect or store your full card details. These are handled directly by Stripe under its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS security standards. We receive only limited confirmation data, such as confirmation that a payment succeeded, your name, the amount paid, and the last four digits of your card.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange your free home visit: on the basis of taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering you.
- To provide and arrange the services you ask for: performance of our contract with you.
- To take and process your payment when you pay online: performance of our contract with you (handled by our payment processor, Stripe).
- To help you with SEAI or local-authority grant applications, where you ask us to: your consent and/or performance of our contract.
- To pass insulation enquiries to our partner (see below): your consent, given when you tick an insulation option.
- To meet our legal, tax and consumer-law obligations: compliance with a legal obligation.
- For any optional analytics or marketing: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Sharing your data with our insulation partner
Insulation work (for example attic insulation or cavity wall insulation) is not carried out by The Powerhouse. It is handled by a separate, independent insulation company, a different business from Athena Enterprises Ltd, trading as The Powerhouse.
If you tick an insulation option on our form, you are asking us to pass your enquiry to that separate insulation company so that they can contact you about that work. With your consent, we will share the enquiry details you provided, such as your name, phone, email, address/Eircode and the insulation you’re interested in, with that company for that purpose only. They become a separate data controller once the details are passed to them and will handle your data under their own privacy policy. If you do not tick an insulation option, we do not share your details with them.
Other parties we share data with
Otherwise, we share data only where it is needed to run our business. This may include the providers who host our website and handle our email; Stripe, our payment processor, when you pay online (see stripe.com/privacy); and, where you ask us to, SEAI or your local authority in connection with a grant. These providers act on our instructions as our processors. We do not sell your personal data.
Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, we take steps to ensure it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Records relating to services we carry out and to payments are kept for as long as Irish tax and consumer law requires (generally up to six years). When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; have it corrected (rectification) or erased; restrict or object to our processing; data portability; and to withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@thepowerhouse.ie and we will respond as required by law.
You also have the right to complain to the Irish supervisory authority: the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, dataprotection.ie.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and keep our measures under review.
Cookies
We use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. Non-essential cookies are only set if you agree, and you can change your choice at any time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
